Digital Youth Conference

#LOGOUT... Let’s Reconnect!

3 - 5 September 2018 | FMA Curacao

The Internet and gaming is everywhere...

Studies have found evidence that people who overuse internet and gaming may develop similar brain problems to those who are addicted to drugs.

Teenagers stare down at their phones, tablet or laptop. Instead of observing the world around them. Internet addiction is increasingly becoming a social issue in Curacao.

This is the reason why FMA is starting a #LOGOUT CONFERENCE.

This conference is all about helping parents, professionals, and organizations to acquire the skills, resources, and networks needed to help individuals to live in our society without resorting to internet and gaming addiction. FMA has the statistics of the first scientific research ever done in Curacao about ‘Internet and Gaming Addiction among young people on Curacao’.

Join us during the #LOGOUT… Let’s Reconnect! Digital Youth Conference, during a three day Conference on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of September 2018.

The #LOGOUT CONFERENCE is not only designed to look at the internet addicted person, but also to look at the active role that the environment and community play in this situation. This Conference is designed for people like YOU, who desire to be part of our solution. People who believe that the road to recovery and prevention in our society is a collective matter.

Meet Ana

My name is Ana,

And my life as a teenager has been incredibly pressured and complicated. I felt like the only place I could be myself was on the Internet. It all started as an innocent act. I don’t think people really understand how intense internet addiction can be.

The truth is I have been isolating myself from personal contact with friends and family. I even dropped out of school two years ago where I was at the lowest point in my life. I can become very aggressive when I don’t have access to the internet. I just always feel the need to #LOGON.

You know what I mean? The truth is that I am not the only one! I want to stop, I need to stop. But I can’t do it alone. Sad to say, there might be another ‘Ana’ right next to you. Yes, someone just like me that need help and is developing an internet or gaming addiction.

This is the reason why FMA started a #LOGOUT movement.
